According to Albert Eistein “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. This then implies that it is ok to fail but what matters is how we handle that failure. The likelihood of failing especially when starting out something new is usually high, but it must not end there. We should be encouraged to do it better at every attempt rather than allowing the thought of failing hold us back in taking those steps. Anything good does not come about smoothly.
No matter how hard we fall to the ground, if we have the self-will to achieve a goal, we will be propelled to overlook our failures and focus into the expected results. In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure, “Bill Cosby”.
If we failed at something today, it doesn’t mean we are totally a failure. Rather, we missed a step or didn’t do some things according to the principles or formulas governing its success, the more reasons we should be motivated to try again till we get it correct. Our failures come only as indicators that we are yet to bring out our best not for us to back down. All of the groundbreaking and record holding inventions we have around today went through cycles of trials, mistakes and failures but it’s the determination not to give up and the zeal to succeed that made them realities.
Thanks to Thomas Edison, the electric bulb was invented to give us illumination but have we ever wondered how many times he tried before he succeeded? Well from records, it’s said to be over ten thousand (10, 000) times. What mattered is he eventually got it done. Below are some of Edison’s quotes that I believe he made boldly without second thoughts;
- “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try one more time”.
- “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up”.
- “Just because something doesn’t do what you planned it to do doesn’t mean it’s useless”.
- “To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk”.
- “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”.
If you are already on, or planning to venture into uncharted courses of life, either a project, business, or invention and challenges or failures have weighed you down on few occasions, it is not over for you yet nor are you fulfilled till you have it as a reality. All you have to do is pick it up again from the point of last failure, tap into the inner strength to succeed, and I believe no matter how many times you have tried you will have a story to tell like Thomas Edison. Good Luck
